DJ Rich is running for Mayor to ensure Folly Beach continues to be a great place for our residents to live, work and raise a family. He has served our town as a city councilmember for 14 years, including the last four years as Mayor Pro-Tem. He was raised here in the 1980’s and returned home over twenty years ago to be a full-time resident. He and his grandmother, Momma Flo, own and operate Planet Follywood on Center Street. He served four terms as President of the Folly Beach Exchange Club and has been a member of the Folly Association of Businesses since 2006. DJ has volunteered for and helped organize community events like Surfer’s Healing, the Halloween carnival, FamCamp, the city’s 40th Anniversary festival, and many more.
DJ has the unique experience and understanding to help ensure that Folly Beach keeps progressing in a responsible way that puts our residents first.
As Mayor, DJ will focus like a laser beam on maintaining and improving the quality of life for our residents. He will –
- Protect our beaches, waterways, and natural resources. Ensure the beach is properly renourished.
- Safeguard the city’s financial stability while maintaining one of the county’s lowest tax rates
- Enhance public safety. More people are moving into our area which means more visitors in the summer months
- Provide top notch city services
- Improve overall livability
- Improve infrastructure and more creative traffic solutions
